Personalized, individual tuition in fluent English is offered alongside structured group workshops, all dedicated to sound vocal projection and authentic vocal expression. These pathways are specifically designed for both novice students and established advanced performers seeking meticulous care for their speaking and singing voice.
Book Your First LessonA healthy voice, within the domain of the Voice Specialist, is defined as a voice that functions efficiently, without strain or pain, and is capable of fulfilling all its long-term demands (speech, song, projection) without incurring damage.
Notwithstanding, as a Voice Specialist, I appreciate that artistic expression often transcends the purely physiological norm. The history of art is replete with celebrated performers and actors whose iconic—yet functionally 'unwell'—voice became the deliberate or unintentional foundation of their singular expression. Our methods respect this artistic dimension, yet we remain firmly focused on the long-term stewardship of the voice, even when one consciously deviates from the physical ideal.
The primary role of every good vocal coach is to guide the student towards using their voice without unnecessary tension or strain. The second, equally crucial aspect of vocal care is the strict adherence to Vocal Hygiene. This involves a fundamental set of rules that I always introduce to my students and continually reinforce, particularly if I observe incorrect technique. Prevention is key to our approach; my aim is to teach students how to use their voice efficiently and safely to ensure they maintain optimum vocal health throughout their entire career.
Anybody can sing perfectly in tune as long as they are healthy and have some enthusiasm
A person with so called 'tone deafness' only thinks they can't hear the pitch of the notes. In actual fact their only problem is that they just don't know how it feels to be in tune, so don't know whether they have hit the right note or not.
So called 'tone deaf' people are in a habit to 'shoot from the hip' instead they would take careful aim like a sniper when hitting a particular pitch. This usually leads to very quick improvement as they shorten the time is takes them to aim.
Personal consultations are always conducted in an entirely bespoke setting. The tuition is tailored meticulously to your specific artistic ambitions—whether this concerns the mastery of a new genre in singing or the precise vocal preparation for a theatrical role.
In the spirit of your individual artistic vision, my objective is to achieve the fullest development and maximal utilisation of your voice's potential, whilst strictly ensuring the preservation of its long-term health and resilience. In essence, we shall utilise the full extent of your vocal offering, yet solely in a manner that ensures its perpetual safeguarding.
The Group Workshops are conceived as intensive tuition that cannot wholly substitute the bespoke approach required for resolving singular vocal issues. However, this format proves exceptionally efficacious for the collective transference of expertise and the assimilation of methodology, a process which would necessitate considerably more time in one-on-one consultations.
The principal value of the group setting resides in the comprehensive work on performance anxiety, which often serves as the foremost saboteur of artistic interpretation and critically diminishes the quality of delivery. In these workshops, we learn to transmute this anxiety into focused energy, fortify presence before an audience, and fundamentally elevate the standard of the overall artistic performance.
My name is Pavel. My vocal journey commenced, and after a decade spent in Bristol, England, it continues once again, here in Brno, Moravia. My entire life has been devoted to music, spanning virtually every genre—from untamed rock and metal, the chords of a campfire guitar, and popular music, to the precise world of classical composition and opera, particularly that of European Romanticism.
Even prior to my departure for England, I began imparting my expertise to dozens of students across various genres. My paramount practice, however, was acquired in England, where I sustained myself exclusively as a Vocal Specialist. There, I had the honour of working with talented pupils of the cathedral boys' choir and a wide array of musicians. My students included the relatively well-known English television and theatre actor, Malcolm Hamilton, and several of his colleagues who were recommended to me.
Beyond my pedagogical work, I sang solos in both rock and classical projects and was part of professional and amateur choirs in the Czech Republic, England, and Wales. Among my greatest choral achievements was the month-long tour of European metropolises with the Cambridge University Choir, as part of the *Tancredi* opera project, conducted by René Jacobs.
I returned from England with an entire library of smart volumes on voice, singing, and theatre, yet I know well that none of them can truly teach anyone anything—the genuine artistry is transmitted otherwise.
My path has been protracted, and it yielded a singular insight: The voice is not merely technique, but also the mirror of the soul. And I can guide you with all my mystery to unveil it, too.
"Before choosing Pavel to be my singing teacher, I had worked through the classical signing grades (up to Grade 8) whilst at school but I had not sung much in the last 10 years. I was hoping to find a teacher who could help me "get my voice back" and to rekindle my enjoyment of singing and I opted for Pavel because of his snazzy website and promising reviews from his pupils. Having now been taught by Pavel for over half a year, I'm very pleased I chose Pavel! He has taught me to change my classical sounding, and at times rather "thin" voice (especially in the top register), to a much more powerful "natural" voice and we are gradually expanding into my register using this singing style. I feel like my voice has really transformed for the better! Pavel's lessons are always a lot of fun as he has a wicked sense of humour and he encourages trying all types of music (I have sung classical, musical, pop and rock songs so far). I would really recommend Pavel if you want to increase the power and quality of your singing whilst also having an entertaining time learning to do so!" - GEORGIE COLLETT, a singer
"I've been singing with Pavel for about a year - I started from scratch. In the past year Pavel has taught me to sing over three octaves with a smooth tone (especially in the top octave). Most importantly I now sing confidently. Pavel's a hard task master, but he's great fun too." - MARK VINEY, Professor of Biology at University of Bristol, a keen amateur musician
"As a songwriter I always wanted to be able to perform my own songs although my singing technique was terrible and I severely lacked confidence. I used to have to make sure that gigs were always spaced a few nights apart to give me time to recover, but am now able to sing night after night without any discomfort. Since then I've continued to improve steadily, have never lost confidence and even receive compliments on my voice." - RICHIE STEADMAN a singer, THE DAYLIGHT FIREWORKS
"In three weeks of sessions with Pavel, I learnt more about voice than I did in three years at Drama School. We worked together on a role, exploring the audition material using several different British accents. Pavel was an incredible help; I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone." - MALCOLM HAMILTON, an actor, - more
